Our Services

Brake Service & Repair

Complete brake inspection, pad and rotor service, and fluid flushes — tuned for the way German cars actually stop.

German performance braking systems are excellent but wear differently than typical cars, and they often rely on sensors and electronic parking brakes that need proper service procedures. We use the right pads, rotors and tools for your model so braking feel and safety stay factory-correct.

Hearing a squeal or feeling a pulse in the pedal? Bring it in for a full inspection — we'll show you exactly what we find.

Why Specialized Knowledge is Critical for Your Vehicle's Brakes

Modern German luxury vehicles feature sophisticated braking systems that go far beyond traditional disc brake service. Electronic Parking Brakes (EPB), integrated ABS/stability control modules, and brake-by-wire systems require specialized diagnostic tools and procedural knowledge that general repair shops often lack.

As an independent German car specialist serving Santa Barbara, Goleta, Montecito, and the Central Coast since 1986, we've invested in the dealer-level diagnostic equipment required to safely service these systems. Without proper tools, attempting to replace brake pads on a vehicle with an electronic parking brake can damage calipers, burn out actuator motors, or leave the parking brake inoperative.

Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Service

We use factory diagnostic tools to safely enter "service mode," retract, and reset Electronic Parking Brakes—a procedure that requires specialized software on BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, and VW vehicles.

Brake Pad Wear Sensor Replacement

Modern German vehicles use electronic wear sensors that must be replaced with each pad change to ensure the warning system functions correctly.

The critical importance of brake fluid specifications: German vehicles require DOT 4 Low Viscosity (LV) or DOT 5.1 fluid—using the wrong specification can damage ABS/ESP components and seals over time, leading to expensive repairs and compromised safety. Our technicians use only manufacturer-approved fluids for your specific vehicle. Brakes are the most critical safety system on your car; every brake service includes a thorough inspection of rotors, calipers, brake lines, and hardware—we measure rotor thickness and runout, check for hot spots and warping, and ensure your system meets or exceeds factory specifications.

Complete Service

Comprehensive Brake Service Offerings

Complete brake system service from routine maintenance to complex repairs—performed to exact factory standards.

Brake Rotor & Pad Replacement

We use exclusively OEM or OE-equivalent brake pads and rotors engineered for your vehicle's specific weight, performance, and braking requirements. Generic "will fit" parts compromise safety and performance.

What makes German brake components different:

  • Friction material composition: low-metallic or ceramic compounds for specific temperature ranges and fade resistance
  • Rotor venting design: directional vane patterns optimized for cooling and reduced fade
  • Metallurgy: high-carbon cast iron or composite materials preventing warping

Brands we use: Genuine OEM (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, VW), Brembo, ATE/Continental, Textar/Pagid. We never use cheap pads, economy rotors, or "value-priced" components—your safety is not negotiable.

Brake Fluid Flushes (Critical Safety Service)

Brake fluid is hygroscopic—it absorbs atmospheric moisture over time. This invisible contamination lowers the boiling point and causes brake fade, internal corrosion, and expensive ABS/ESP module damage.

  • Required interval: every 2 years regardless of mileage—moisture absorption occurs even if rarely driven
  • DOT 4 Low Viscosity (LV): standard for most BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW
  • DOT 5.1: synthetic for high-performance (never DOT 5 silicone)
  • Pentosin meeting VW 501 14 and other German OEM specs

Our flush process: pressure bleeding with factory-spec equipment, complete flush from master cylinder through all calipers, moisture testing to under 3%, and ABS/ESP activation to purge control valves.

Brake Wear Sensor Replacement

German vehicles use single-use electronic wear sensors embedded in the pads. Once triggered, they must be replaced.

  • Always replaced with new pads—reusing old sensors causes false warnings
  • System reset with factory tools to clear warnings and reset monitoring
  • Genuine sensors matching OEM specs for accurate wear tracking

Caliper & Hardware Service

Complete caliper service prevents premature pad wear, noise, and uneven braking—often skipped by quick brake shops.

  • Slide pin inspection: clean, lubricate, or replace pins preventing seizure
  • Hardware replacement: new anti-rattle clips, shims, and retention hardware
  • High-temp lubrication: ceramic brake grease on contact points preventing noise
  • Piston inspection: check for leaks, corrosion, or binding requiring rebuild/replacement

Electronic Systems

Advanced Brake System Diagnostics & Repair

Complex electronic brake systems require factory-level diagnostic tools and German auto expertise.

ABS/ESP/DSC Diagnostics

When ABS, ESP, or traction control warning lights illuminate, factory diagnostic tools are required to identify the fault.

  • Wheel speed sensor testing and replacement
  • ABS hydraulic unit diagnosis
  • Control module software updates
  • System bleeding and activation procedures

Electronic Parking Brake Service

EPB systems require specialized tools to retract calipers electronically for pad replacement and perform system adaptations.

  • Factory scan tool for EPB retraction
  • Caliper motor testing and replacement
  • System calibration and adaptation after service
  • Emergency release procedures when needed

Master Cylinder & Booster Repair

Soft pedal feel, loss of pressure, or excessive pedal travel indicate master cylinder or brake booster issues.

  • Pressure testing to diagnose internal leaks
  • Vacuum booster testing and replacement
  • Master cylinder rebuild or replacement
  • Complete system bleeding after repair
